What is Need For Sleep?
Need For Sleep is an absurd, high-octane endless drifting game with a twist: you’re not behind the wheel of a car — you’re riding a speeding bed through procedurally generated city streets and forest roads, while a blissfully unaware passenger snoozes on top. The bed never slows down. The bed never stops. Your only job is to keep it moving.
How to Play
Every run is a test of momentum, reflexes, and sheer audacity. Drift through hairpin corners, swing around skyscrapers with your grappling hook, and blast through straightaways with a well-timed boost. Lose your momentum — or worse, crash — and the run is over. One mistake. That’s all it takes.
- Drift around corners to maintain speed and rack up distance
- Grappling Hook — latch onto buildings and swing through tight urban gaps
- Boost — activate a burst of speed when you need to push through
- Momentum System — keep the bed rolling or watch your run crumble
- Procedural Roads — no two runs are ever the same
- Sleeping Driver — your passenger sleeps through all of it. Somehow.
A Different Take
Need For Sleep was created for the Live2Dev GameJam 2026, built around the theme “Different Take”. The team took the classic endless runner formula and asked: what if the vehicle was a bed? What if the driver was asleep? The result is a game that is equal parts ridiculous and surprisingly tense.
